On June 1st, 2015 for the fifth consecutive year, The National Network for Children recognized those whose work improved Bulgarian children’s rights and prosperity and awarded them with Golden Apple statuette. The National Network for Children’s members nominated and selected the people and organizations in four categories: school, hospital, municipality and journalist and they received diplomas and Golden Apple statuettes. The event took place in the Independent Theater with Andrey Zahariev being the Master of Ceremony. The guests of the event enjoyed the fantastic performance of the students of the Lyubomir Pipkov National School of Music.

Hero of Children statuette, designated to recognize ordinary people who do something significant for children, was selected publicly on the awards website: 1june.nmd.bg. Over 1000 people voted for 20 nominations. Mothers of children with disabilities collectively won the prize for 2015 for the sacrifice of their own careers and professional growth in the name of their children.

Golden Apple for Special Achievement went to Kalin Kamenov, Deputy Minister of Sport and Youth for his understanding and proactive approach towards children and young people.

Golden Apple for Special Contribution went to Nevena Madzharova, Chairperson of the Board of the Non-for-Profit Organizations in Targovishte, for her long career in advocating for children and their families’ rights.

Municipality of Pavlikeni was presented with a Golden Apple statuette and voted as the most social municipality. The services for development of the youth they offer on their territory make the town homey and safe. The local government’s efforts contribute to improving the relations between parents and children, as well as enhance the effectiveness of the support-groups on the territory of the town.

Zlatina Dimitrova from Webcafe.bg was elected as the Journalist of the Year. She demonstrated constant commitment to tackle social issues and, more specifically, children’s rights and education, violence against children and NGOs’ social projects.

Golden Apple statuette for School of the year went to the 171, Stoil Popov Primary School, Novi Iskar, for its Roma Folklore Club which succeeded to involve children, their parents and their teachers in its work against discrimination and violence.

Golden Apple Award in the Hospital category went to MBAL Shumen for initiating social and psychological programs for its patients along with the medical care. The hospital was recognized both by its patients and staff.
