As a response to our letter addressed to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Bulgaria, ChildPact received positive feedback regarding its initiative to strengthen regional cooperation for child protection and to create a Working Group for Children within the Organisation for the Black Sea Economic Cooperation (BSEC).
ChildPact argued that BSEC is the only treaty-based inter-governmental organisation with a strong focus on the countries where ChildPact works. Bulgaria’s experience in solving difficult child protection issues should be better known and shared among other countries in the region.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Bulgaria expressed its support for ChildPact’s endeavor adding that “the Bulgarian government is strongly committed to promoting and protecting children’s rights in all its policies. […] We consider that strengthening regional cooperation for child protection will contribute for safeguarding children’s rights and promoting their well being in the region”.
ChildPact welcomes Bulgaria’s official commitment to support regional cooperation efforts aimed at improving the welfare of vulnerable children in the Wider Black Sea area and looks forward to new venues of cooperation.
